Board vs. Ski

hi,

my last exerience with snowkiting left me sitting here with a broken arm

but there's something im ondering about:

pro's of skis:
more edging (two edges)
more speed
bigger airs
whole new tricks because you got two of them.
more safe because of safety-bindings.

cons:
less style
no 'use-your-sytle-and-stuff-learned-on-the-water' ?

any more?

is there a snowkiter out there who can ride both really good and tell more about this?

Hi,

Ijust like to add my views on the ski v's board debate.

In my opinion skis are the better tool for snowkiting, but there are a few exceptions. To be able to use skis successfully with a kite a certain amount of skill is required to keep both skis parallel and the edges biting. Skis become more difficult to use in deeper and heavier snows.

Therefore my recommendations are that if you have limited ski and board experiance use a snowboard (less things to think about). If you can ski parallel turns well on skis then use them.

Most important thing to remember is that it is up to you to decide which you are more comfortable with for the snow conditions.

If you are going to snowboard step-in bindings are a must otherwise it is very difficult to control an airborn kite and put your feet into the bindings.

If anyone finds / knows of a good place to snowkite in europe then please post them to this site. I'm from England and it is difficult to know where you can and can't fly in the alps.

Hai Matt,

the best spot to snowkite is the Lake SILVAPLANA here in Switzerland.

But in a french kite-magazin I have seen beautiful and perfect spots to go in Denmark.
