new Flysurfer?

Postby Mane » Thu May 16, 2013 12:53 pm

Hi,

a couple of weeks ago I spotted some guys from the flysurfer development team when they were testing something I have not seen before in a kite. It looks like a regular flysurfer kite, but without the bottom sail ?! It flies in very little wind, and seems to have lots of power for its size, but also some depower as well.
Does anybody know about?

cheers,

Otti

I haven't seen this one yet,
But my single surface Ram Air will be ready in 6 weeks.
With 3 lbs weight it flies in 2 - 3 knots
Pull on to a plane hopefully in 4 -5 knots with the right board.

This is the holy grail of foils. Ozone did a para glider proto like this using a micro filament to shape the leading edge. Maybe Flysurfer are trying something similar.

I'm the one Who is using Ozone as I posted here ön KF & Foilzone.
I've been thinking about this for 2 years how to get the weight down,
because I found the recent inflatables and even Foil types were heavy for light winds.
The handling difference, upwind and steering speed will be of the new 19m Single surface
and a S3-21 the same as between a Formula 1 Race Car and a Truck,
without moving moving 11 lbs of air mass at the end of the lines
The brake through idea came from another user on KF to just to convert a PG
I'm glad I trigerred and challenged some developments by posting out of the box ideas
and Flysurfer is followinging it Up :thumb:

Looking forward to new developments in this area. All kinds of potential benefits for those few who are willing to fly a non water-relaunchable kite. Thanks for posting.

As a non-water kite, I agree, huge potential. Super small pack down, could be great in the mountains. There has not been an update to the open cell Outlaw in quite some time.

Anyone know how well these single skin kites drift if the lines are unloaded?
