Rotation: Horizontal plane of rotation.... body stays pretty much vertical and the board never goes over your head. A pirouette.

Flip: vertical plane of rotation..... the board goes directly over your head.

Roll: A rotation done in the vertical plane while your body is horizontal or inverted off axis. If the board doesnt at least reach the same height as your head, its just a rotation.

Technically in the video his first rotation is just that and his second is a roll, but you usually give that the benifit of the doubt and just call it a double roll.

Feels like kite was over sent forward too soon too hard after first back roll

You really traveled real far and fast during second roll

Only looks like a loop was intended bar pulled too sharp with front hand then you tried to save it

You were not planning to transition to other tack with a downloop

You were not planning to kiteloop and stay on same tack either

Simply a timing steering error....happens to all of us

Great that you survived it..........much deeper water is always safer :thumb:

... whoa dude, that could have been really bad, glad your ok!

I did the exact same thing in exact same depth of water years ago on my very first attempt at a back roll on a very angry Naish X2 18m kite. I'd barely knew how to kite or even hold ground, I didn't know I should have pulled the front hand sooner but in my confusion I pulled the back hand until I had my back to the water with angry kite looping and my brain thought, pull front hand now,,,, but way too late, smash. The last thing I saw was the kite tomahawking into the water right before I hit. I was lucky the kite pulled so hard that I bounced on the water instead of going in head first.

At the time I thought, why the hell would you do tricks, you got to be crazy. Speaking of dumb, I attempted the same thing, one week later going the other tack and I told my self, remember,,, pull left hand as you start rotating to re-direct kite. Guess what,,, this dumb arse (ass) didn't figure, your going the other way d!ckhead, so its the wrong hand again. Did the same thing didn't I. :o

Anyway, sometimes the brain just doesn't think too well hey!

also not sure what a rotation/backroll/flip is anymore now that Toby said something about it.

Toby makes up names as he goes. I think it has to do with the language barrier.

I mean really Airstyle = Oldschool with pointed toes... you can call shit anything you want apparently...

yeah 20cm of water seems abit shallow. why not try in deeper water. Also wear a helmet if you dicking around in the shallows.

ps i agree the redirect was sent too early.
psss i also agree with toby. bigger kite makes it easier.
psssss. i'm not a rolling expert.

For a back roll and how you land..

Regular straight up back roll you want to pull to your front hip and suck up your front leg. Pull to hip stops the rotation.

Roll to revert or toeside you pull to your back hip and release your front hand.

All ways spot your landing. Where your head goes the body follows. If your over sending the kite cheat and move your front hand a little bit away from the center of the bar.

Hey there..

I can see u trying to figured out what exaclty i was trying to do..

I just tried to do a normal double backroll with no kiteloop whatsoever. Usally i land theese 80% times but i have no idea why i pulled the kite so hard that time..

Well, i saw the doctor today, the concussion is slowly going away and my neck seems to be saw from the insident..

Not fractures or water in loungs. ! :jump:

Gotta ride the pain away right?
