Darn. I have no pictures of it but I have transported my kiting gear numerous times on my BMW F800S. Works a treat! At first I was going to build a custom rack but tried to fasten the board on the side of the bike in the footstraps on the back peg and the back handle, straps facing towards the bike. Then I put a strap round the board for safety. This worked so good I didn't see the need of a rack. The kites and wetsuits are in a LARGE Waroo 09 backpack. Motorway speeds are fine but when it's really windy it's a bit scary sometimes when gusts hit.

That snow board rack looks siiiiiick. I find adjustable shock(s) is important feature. Once you put weight on the bike and some aerodynamic resistance the front lifts up and you get a wobble. But with adjustable shock you just crank it up and that's it.

Get the rack and panniers and put the board across. The crosswinds are the issue and if you expose the board like that to the crosswind it pushes you all over. The board lying across doesn't make any difference in riding. With your bike being high and the crosswind getting under your bike you still get sucked towards the crosswind that's why I had to change to a cruiser because I ride on windy days a lot.

I've had it up to 90 mph getting on the freeway and had no issues with vibration or turbulence
would love to carry a surfboard, but think having it parallel with bike would be better

Where did you get the rack? This might work for me on my Harley instead of going to get a custom rack made which I have been too lazy to go get done.

hey joe, I custom fabricated this rack system. the aluminum plates that run vertical are fastened to the base frame structure of the saddle bags. I have modified the thule snowboard racks by bolting them through the base of the rack directly to the aluminum structure. even though I feel pretty confident this setup won't fail, I also use some webbing straps over everything to ensure nothing can come loose.

I figured that much. I guess I should have been more specific. Where did you get the small ski rack? I looked on the Thule website and all I saw was full car ski racks.

You might also consider one of those rack enlargement plates from Hepco Becker.
