Lake Garda

Postby Eli90 » Thu May 23, 2013 12:28 pm

Hi guys,

Pretty new here, but I thought I'd ask for some help. My family are thinking of booking a trip to Lake Garda in Italy, and while the main priority isn't kitesurfing, I'd still like to get out if possible.

If anyone has been out before, did you rent gear? Where from? Any food recommendations?

We're thinking of getting a villa, something along these lines http://www.cottagestocastles.com/italia ... illas.aspx thoughts?
Apologies for the barrage of questions. The more info I can supply them with, the more likely they'll let me out on the lake for longer.

Thanks in advance

On Garda Lake you can kite in Campione, Navene, Malcesine. There are basically no beaches where to launch, so the common practice is the use a boat lift, which cost 30€

The only 2 beaches requires in any case an annual fee, so you'd better off use the lift, which brings you where the wind is better and stronger

You can go out in the early morning, between 7a.m. and 10a.m, generally with 15-20knots from North, or after 12-1p.m, generally with 12-15knots from the south. The best conditions are in the morning in my opinion.

There are plenty of schools, both on the east and on the west side.
I could suggest you kiteschoolnavene, bee kite, windriders

Garda like is an AMAZING place where to kite, surrounded by the mountains.
Go out at least once!

I haven't kitesurfed there, but I have sailed there. The wind is fairly gusty, and it didn't look like any easy places to launch.

The back drop is georgeous.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the your replies, guys! Am really starting to look forward to this holiday now.
Gvironda, 30€ sounds quite reasonable for a boat lift. And yeah, I'd like to go out as often possible. Do you know how busy it tends to be in the summer months?

with the lift you don't care about people
you have all the lake for you, amazing! you just have to book the day before, no problem
in the summer it is very busy, especially during the weekend, which only means that you could be 10 or 15 on a boat, but you always kite by yourself, as the boat spread the people around
