rebel and ozone

A couple of days in sardinia with my close friend ,wind from 15 20 knots first day, 20 30 second day, wave no more than 2 meter ,smooth regular and safe ,perfect for us ,pure fun.
both around 76 78 kg , directional boards same level.
He used and changed continuosly his ozone reo 6 8 and 10 because wind has been some unpredictable.
it means we were surfing ,he went to shore and change 10 with 8
we were surfing ,he went to shore and change 6 with 8
we were surfing ,he went to shore and change 8 with 6

I used rebel 7 only both days!!!!!! full throttle first day ,half throttle second day .
I do not care of north ozone or others (I have my job) and look always for something better to buy,so tried his 10,good handling and feeling! but no horsepower!!!!
so how many and which ozone I have to buy to cover my rebel range?
how many and which ozone I have to carry from parking area (not very close) to the beach?
how many and which ozone I have to inflate and prepare once on the beach?
I told my friend to try my 7,he said no,I am afraid to change again everything and spend again !
He is much younger than me in better condition and more prepared but second day he was cooked!!!!! destroyied !!!!! finished!!!!! while i have been nearly 3 hours with no effort!!!!
constant pull of rebel? cannot say! I do not know I do want to know ,let's talk something else ,
I'd like to try neo , rumors and other close friends say is better for waves,????????

Interesting experience. A higher aspect kite does indeed have its advantages for sure. We have constant thermal sea breezes and hence I know what kite I'd want to be on if I was dedicated to wave riding. I also know what kite I'd be on of I wanted to ride fast and boost big out of those two. But if I wanted to ride fast and boost big I would ride neither of them.

I recon your buddy just likes to be perfectly powered.

I don't think it's about wind range at all.

I like to be perfectly powered too,indeed I have 5 6 and 8 m also,but I was perfectly powered without changing kite! of course I would have changed too if wind would have gone above 30 or below 16 17 .
My buddy did not want to change! he had to change!
I could change but there was no need!!
my rebel 7 (2013) goes with 16 17 like his reo 10
and keeps perfectly 30 like his reo 6
while he could not go with 6 and little wind or 10 with stronger wind. his 8 helped him for complete confusion!!!!!
Of course with steady winds is better and no complication but here at least wind is never,never steady during the day.
yust to talk do not like much 5 reb (2012),around 25 gusty I suffer ,some sinking!!!! I know has to be used above 30 but thought was better below .
also 8 m(2012) some slow,really do not use much ,will sell.
6 and 7 (2013)monsters!!!!! range ,power, speed,effortless,high end low end, up wind,turning
it's all personal experiences and feelings of course but dear ozones there is no chance!!!!

Not sure totally what your question is... If a kite, in this case the Rebel, is working for you and it's wind range and performance are beating your friend's 3 kites, why would you want to change?? The Rebel has ridiculous depower capabilities and it also is packed with power, hence the huge range!

I have also seen a guy on the 7m 2013 rebel at my local spot flying in huge range of wind conditions.

We were both riding strapless one day in about 12kn of wind though I was on my 11m 2013 SB with just enough power yet we were both having the same amount of fun and traveling the same distance on upwind tacks.

On other days 25-30kn when I was out on my 5.5 nomad the same guy is out on his 2013 7m rebel still strapless and he does not seem over powered.

Hi Danny I did not mean that I want to change,I say that I change if I find something better!
I buy what I like ,do not care of rebel and north or any other brand.If ozone makes a kite that I try and find better I buy at once .
ridiculous depower of rebel? sorry english is not my mother language really do not understand what the meaning is . if I am surfing with 17 knots and wind picks up around 30 and there is no problem with 7 m reb what I have to depower?
I'd like to say no problem till 33 34 knots as north writes but do not know ,did not have chance
to try .
if you are out with reo 10 in 17 knots and wind picks up 30 and more what do you do? depower?

I think your impression of what a kites speed spot is, is different to others. Certainly different to mine.

For your suggested range15-30 knots I could fly my 10m c4 (or for that matter a 10m reo) through that complete range trimming it as the winds build.

But the sweet spot is 20-25 for my 10. It rocks in the wind range. I love it.

I can and do use 5 different kites in between the ranges of 15-30 knots. Why? because I can! Because I prefer the different feel of the different sized kites on any given day.

Yes again...aspect is a wonderful thing. They are a very, very different kite. One is a specialised wave kite, the rebel is not and I've spent a lot of time on both. Just as my edges have an incredible range. Ssshhh its called higher aspect. And this comes alive with an efficient board such as a SB ( compared to a TT). My bro is 83kg and ride his 11m edge in 10 knots on a SB! And take it to 25 on his TT.

But if its double over head and in the right wind zone, give me the REO anyday.

But yeh the rebel does indeed have a big range. I remember when my bro and I were on the 11m we would just about use a one kite quiver! Just about. But then you get addicted to the sweet spot of kiting. Now I have 5..... Lol.

... what you need to do is swap kites and see if its not just your friend and his skills. Not saying he isn't good, just that maybe he expects certain performances and doesn't like how the Reo feels. Me personally I don't like polite kites either, I like grunt so as I understand, the Reo is such a kite, polite in its power delivery. Anyway, just a thought.
