Short clip of us taking out the 14m Liquid Force NRG Lightbreeze and Airush Sector 60 last Sunday to see how light we could go.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-_fl1FvPtY
Wind was only 3-4 mph so had to work hard to keep the kite in the sky and get the board onto the plane but it was doable and a great fun session when the flags were stuck to their poles and the water was like a mirror

I'd like to believe it
But according my experience in light winds like that, it had to be at least 6 - 8 mph in my opinion.....
Maybe I'm wrong so let's see what others has to say
By the way what's your weight relation to that 3 - 4 mph winds just wondering
Thanks,
DrLW

u mean 3-4meters per second which is what your phone said, or 7-9mph still super light wind, and nice riding, but more believable than 3mph.

The first phone shot does say m/s, however, the second shot of the phone is indeed in mph. I want to believe as well, but it seems very unlikely that 3-4mph was the true wind speed.

If you can get a kite in the air the Sector will plane. Problem is if the kite drops and can't be relaunched you're screwed. Fine on a nice day in shallow water a walkable distance to shore. A problem if you go "whale watching" especially in a crowded area where someone is likely to call for a rescue if they see your kite down.
Plus watch it if you have submerged rocks, etc....

Awesome very cool. Been on a 10m nrg, that is an exceptional kite. Couldn't believe how well it drifted and i dont mean this lightly, it drifted like a bloody wave kite...for a high aspect kite this was amazing. My close second choice to an edge and if I had more waves could probably be front and centre of my quiver.

Here we go again
I agree with DR LW
3 mph is just like saying 2-4kn......and we all know what happened not so long ago
All you claimers gotta stop believing machines...and think...common sense here
It is a very efficient 60 wide board
The kite is not that big for a LW kite 14m2
The rider is in a fullsuit (because of brown cold water).....perhaps gradient vertical wind
Wind is blowing away from shore ( making it more difficult to measure)
Parked kite 12m above water + the speed at which the board planes + flag flapping action
The wind speed is no less than7-8knots....which is supa light wind riding indeed.....using a 14m2
The same test done in warm water with same temperature wind would yield very different results
Now back to you
Doctor

I think that depends on the kite. I haven't ridden the sector, but have ridden full raceboards with lightwind specific kites. The lightwind specific kites will fly before it has enough power to get you up on a full raceboard (about 6 knots). I'd guess the sector with less volume and planing area will take at least as much pull to get going as compared to the raceboards.

I agree, also when you look at the clouds the combination also gives you the extra pulling power

Yes indeed, nice catch and nice riding in that light winds
3.6 m/sec = 8.05 mph honest reading
