Obviously you can google it ,so I assume you are looking for it in SA. That I cant help with, However, Sikaflex 291 will also work for the same applications. You may find it to be more available where you are located

I have used both in commercial fishing applications. They are very similar in their performance.

I have never used either caulk for a bladder repair. I just assumed it was for something else. U-stick valves are readily available via EBay.. They work well and are made for the job.

For marine applications I prefer Sikaflex over 5200, but trust both equally.

i just did a 14 valve restick on a 2004 kite I got for $50. Every valve worked perfectly. That's why I trust 3m 5200 fast cure. I would test sikaflex on a few valves before committing an entire kite.

You can't use ebay u-sticks on a kite where you need to do a complete restick not cost effective.

Hi Marius

You can contact 3M in Cape Town on 021 943-1400, they should be able to advise a local stockist.
Otherwise let me know what the problem is and perhaps we can sugest another solution to the problem. We stock self adhesive replacement valves plus other repair products.

it is good to know that 5200 works and certainly a 14 valve restick would not be cost effective if using U-stick valves.

The OP had no info regarding the use for the caulking. A little context goes a long way

5200 can be used to glue kites together as well is my understanding. I have a buddy that creates some hideous hideous messes with it....but they fly.

dont use 5200 on canopy, if you are cheap like me, sew sew sew. Never never glue.

The only thing you should ever use 3m 5200 fast cure on is to restick a bunch of valves. On a single valve, a single stick on valve is easier and faster, on the canopy or leading edge get out your dacron and sewing needle, on the board use epoxy.

There are some kite repair aids that use glue and that is ok if you are on a vacation and buy a kit and have to get back on the water right away, but a needle & thread is cheaper and more reliable lasts longer and looks better.

I know they use 5200 in all kinds of stuff for marine applications but for us kiters, there's just one thing you want to use 5200 on, that's to restick your valves, which is plenty good enough reason to buy a $12 tube of it.

Oh, 5200 is alright for wetsuit repair. Not as good as stuff designed for it, but ok for patching a small hole.
