Line lenght suggestion!

Postby gvironda » Wed Jun 12, 2013 9:07 pm

Hi guys
I am thinking about buying a second North bar, and take 22m lenght rather than classic 24m, to use it in the waves
can you please tell me how much low end you eventually loose with 2m less?
Can you really perceive it or you just get more reactivity from the kite without any big loss in power?
Thanks a lot

You'll lose nothing in the low end really, so just go ahead with 22m (which is quite standard from many brands today)

If you go below 20m though, you will typically begin to feel a noticeable difference in my experience.

Longer lines dont improve the power the kites produce just give it a longer swoop as you dive the kite so it makes it easier to water start in those lighter winds. Two meters won't make a huge difference. Why don't you get the 22 and buy some 5-7 meter extensions for the light wind days????

Hi,gvironda, for my next north bar ,like you :thumb: i want to buy 22m lenght lines,so i suppose my kite will turn faster and loose a litle bit of low-end .I am gonna mix the 22 and 24 lines depending of the wind conditions. Will see :thumb: good wind! THE FREAK

From what I have seen the lines need to be significantly longer (e.g. 40m instead of the 'standard' 25m) to give a tangible light wind advantage, and it works only in certain conditions, not always.
