IKA News:

South/Middle American Championships 2013 Day 2

Lighter winds and cloudless skies greeted riders on the second day of racing, and double-digit kite sizes were the rule of the day. The fleet seems to have gotten into sync with the new course layout and each other, as the number of protests dropped and the finishes got tighter.

Riccardo Leccese (ITA) and Nayara Licariao (BRA) continued to dominate all heats with first place finishes all around. Blazej Ogoz (POL) and Beth Lycoe (LCA) kept up their challenges with close second finishes.

Final results for Day Two landed Riccardo Leccese once again in the top spot, with Blazej Ozog and Florian Gruber (GER) in second and third. In the women's fleet, Nayara Licariao and Beth Lygoe held on to first and second place, with Jessica Sickinger (CAN) taking over third place, ahead of Nuria Goma (ESP) by only two points.

Heading into day three, racers are expecting similar wind and wave conditions. While some racers are hoping for the return of the strong winds and choppy water that marked the start of the Championships series, everyone is in agreement that the exciting beachfront finish line is a welcomed improvement for racers and spectators alike.
