Anybody for kite in Miami?

Postby DSM » Wed Jun 19, 2013 3:22 am

Hello my name is Diego, I am from Spain and I have just came to Miami for work for a few months. I have brought my 11m kite and the harness (I just need to rent or buy a second hand board). I am dying to kite! It would be great if anybody could advise me with an email (disima2002@hotmail.com) or whatsapp (+17866097362) and we could meet at the beach or going by car to a far spot.

Good wind!

Diego

Why do you need to go to a far spot to kite when you can kite in Coral Gables?
Just go to Matheson Hammock park on 42nd Ave.
Or alternatively, go to North Miami beach.
Not that you'll find wind unless you sit at the beach all afternoon, but this
is miami and you will have to wait for the afternoon thunderstorms for any wind.
Personally , I don't kite in Florida during the summer. I go to the Gorge instead.

Wind here in the keys has been rideable every day for the last 5 or so(big kites) if you were around at those times.(not all day) Forecast is for 15 for the rest of the week here and 15-20 starting friday or saturday for the next 5 or so days after. If your coming, give a call.

The forecast goes up and down all the time but you know that. Got an hour in for the last 3 days on a Turbine with my 135x41. On Tuesday Chris from 7 rode a 12 Rebel with me for 2 hours. My new Cloud 17 comes in this week and then I hope to get another knot or 2 lower maybe more with my Sector 66.

Thankyou everyone for your replies! I saw the forecast fore this weekend and it shows 15-17 knot E SE, for me it would be enough to kite 1 or 2 hours but I dont know how accurate is the forecast in these spots (I watched Windguro and Windfinder).

Which spot do you think is better for this wind Crandon Park or maybe better Matheson Hammock Park because (flat water)?

By the way, if anybody wants to sell or to rent an used board please let me know.
