Forget about kiting on water over there. I have heard that the mountains (Mount Damavand and Dizin ski resort) and foot hills surrounding Tehran get covered in several feet of snow. My buddy is also planning on going some time in April. He showed me some photos and it looks amazing for snowkiting.

You might even like snowkiting better than kitesurfing

Check out Mount Damavand on Google Earth - it is the huge volcano just to the East of Tehran. Or see http://www.sk-branik.si/dusan/iran/damavand.jpg

Please send a report and photos.

It is a bit late, but I write it for people who google about kiting in Iran.

I am new Kiter in Iran. There is almost no professional kiteboarder in Iran.

There some spot I found really good for Kiteboarding :

1- Manjil Lake, on the way from Tehran to Rasht, it is a dam lake, with fresh water. It is windy and no wave :D. Not good in winter time cause it's cold.

2- Kish Island in Persian Gulf, good in winter time, but not always windy. 1:40 flight time to the island.

3- Chabahar, it's a freezone city close to Pakistan border on Indian ocean. In summer time it is windy. There is a lagoon, if you do not like waves.

I am still searching for new places. If I find I will let you know.

Besides, it is not easy for women to kite here in Iran. I do kiting with wetsuit, no problem.

If you come here for kiting, do NOT bring any thing except your Kite, Board, and cloth. It means, NO camera, NO GoPro, NO Radio, NO high tech mobile phone... and ask for authority to kite.

Cheers,
K1
