Which Torch sizes 12 / 9 or 12 / 8?

Postby Ludmil » Thu Jun 20, 2013 8:54 pm

Hi all,

I have 12 Torch 2013 and I intend to replace my Park 9 with Torch but I`m not sure which size will match the 12 best.
Whether or not, 12 and 9 is a classical quiver but still an 8 could be interesting option.
Does anyone have experience regarding these sizes??

I've been riding the 8/12 combo for a few year and its great, basically when I'm near the top end of the 12 I can be on the 8 and vice versa no problem. Its a very simple and easy to use quiver with excellent overlap. I have a 6, 8, 10, 12. Rarely use the 10 pretty much stick to the 8/12 although I do use the 6 a bit

I've had the opposite experience and find them to have good wind range considering they are C kites. The 8 is my most used kite and I use it when most others are on 9s.

Yes,correct JGTR, have in mind that I`m going back to Torches after 1Y on Parks wich have solid low end, awesome kites, but not my cup of tea.
I`m not that young anymore for trying very complicated unhhoked tricks but 2013 Torch is something special.I can jump higher even hooked in w/ it.
Believe me or not I feel Cs much more comfortable.

So, as I see it could be the 8 wich in addition is kind of tamed /as all sizes below/ according to Naish...

The 9/12 would be the best choice with a 7 but if you only want 2 kites the 8/12 is a good combo. The 12 will take you comfortably to 22 knots with a lot more in the bag and the 8 will go from 18/20 knots :thumb:

I'm 90 kg btw, 136 x 41, my board has good wind range.

The 8 is on the way I`ll have it within one week.
76-77 kg and Monarch 134...
We`ll see, thanks a lot!

I just got the 8 and rode it couple of tmes but there is something that surprised me a lot.
The kite flutters between the 1st and 2nd strut /not the tip area/ .It flutters even when the kite is parked. When I moving the kite it`s very disturbing...
Is it normal to be like that?
The 12 is rock solid in the air!
OK I suppose that thinner profile is used for the smaller sizes bit still its quite surprising a Torch to flutter like that.

Anyone?

Sweet. I am a bit heavier than you and have that board. It is usually pretty lit when I take out a TT so I almost regret not picking the 132...that said I have no real reason to say that as I have not been overpowered.

Have you had it out yet?
I cannot say anything about the 8. I have ridden the 9 / 11 a bit and did not notice any annoying fluttering...
