gnarly. thats is what that can look like. a reality of kiteboarding that can be easy to forget or not realize. primary quick release can usually take care of this, but not necessarily. all bets are off when a line is wrapped on your harness or yourself. good luck going for a knife if releasing from the harness loop doesn't drop the kite. your best bet if primary release and leash system doesn't do it is to take the line you can reach (any line) and do your best to pull it in, hand over hand. not an easy situation, everything is more intense in high wind on small kites.

sweet vid.

How did it stop the death looping? Once I saw a a Cabrinha tangled to another kite (riders bailed out thankfully) keep going for 15 minutes... it was spooky...

Presumably the thing to do is grab the powerline and keep pulling it down toward you until the kite depowers - if you do it fast enough before the lines twist too much?

Scary scenario... saw this happen to a rider 4 months ago.. He was well powered up on a pulley bar kitebar system. Very similar in what happened, in that he cranked into a toe side turn and somehow got is outside steering line caught under his harness hook. Rider only stopped being dragged by the looping, super over powered kite, as it ended up in a tree along the shore line. For most, not much you can do, until the kite hits the water or an object and stops looping. A looping kite will create tons of power making it very difficult to grab a knife and cut the steering line.

In the video above it looks like the rider goes into a toe side turn and then the kite loops left... Still puzzled on how it is even possible to get a steering line wrapped under the harness hook. Rider must roll the left side down?

How about getting board speed then shoot towards the kite and try to secure a line?

there is no such thing in kiteboarding as a "power line," that is an ambiguous term. there are inside lines and out side lines, also referred to as front lines and back lines.

another stab at a terminology thread.

power lines carry electricity.
