Mohave was OOONNnn... both Thursday, and Friday !!
I kitted on a TT for a bit, then went for more practice on the surfboard
for the rest of the day . Everything was Great until about 3 hours -in ... when
i went for a back-roll with a kite-loop , while me buddy Santiago was following
me, ((making sure he watched)). Yea-- i know what went wrong ; probably the part
about him watching !!
Ouch -- the landing wasn't so great ; There goes $15K for a new prosthetic, compliments
of the USA -- VA, (my sponsor) !! Going in the Army back in the 70's , does
have it's advantages , now that i'm older and wiser ! Did he say wiser ?
So today i'm back at Mohave , in 25 + & i'm on a 20-Ft Hobie cat ; the Main was
reefed to about the size of a Hobie-16, & we were running without the jib in 2 to 2.5-ft
chop. South East winds are Great , cause it keeps the swells down.
Ouch --- we completely blew-out the Main sail in a 30 +mph gust, & had to hoist the
jib, ((actually -- unfurl it )) to get back home, there goes $2.5K for another Mail-sail
with reefing points sewn-in !!
Now im getting Really Drunk because i know that by tomorrow i'm gonna
be dwelling on what the cost was for those two days of FUN !!!

at least you are having wind!
I am in Egypt and no wind since Monday!
And no more wind for the next days!
But the beauty of Egypt is, that you can do something similar special while there is no wind!

Your Japanese translator isn't working properly,
who said anything about Loosing a leg ; & i had a leash .
As a mater of Fact -- i never permanently Lost any of my
fake legs ; just had to get divers to go retrieve them on a few
occasions.
The broken parts are in the same pile as All the other legs
they made for me . Perhaps They should build stuff that a
60 year-old guy Can't break ; or should i do like that Fokiten-dude,
and quit kiting ?
OH HELL No -- i ain't quite ready to start feeding chickens
at the elephants' graveyard yet !!

Hahaha soo true. I was planning on going to Ras Sudr for the weekend but there hasn't been wind for like a week now. But we should be getting some wind on Teusday. Hopefully it lasts till next weekend.

I didn't loose the fake leg ;
i snapped the the composite part in 1/2 , like it was a cheap plastic Toy.
Funny that loosing the Main-sail of the Hobie-20, bothers me more
than the broken leg ; like the fake-legs ---i would-a thought it was stronger
than that .

I used to have a Hobie 20 until last year. It spent the entire season still in winter storage--I had way too much fun kiting instead of hauling and rigging the fricken cat. I wound up single-handing the cat almost all the time. Any time it was windy, my buddies were all kiting (like me), so the cat just sat. Sold it to a guy who didn't kite (poor fool). I'm sure he's enjoying spending all that time rigging and packing it away. Because of where I sailed the cat (and the fact that I single-handed it), it took me most of an hour to rig, and then most of an hour to derig. What a waste of good windy time. The only reason to sail a boat is for the social aspects--otherwise go kiting or play golf if there's no wind. It was fun to sail, but more fun to kite. IMO.

Last season my Nacra 5.2 saw about 10 days vs over 100 in the seasons pre-kiting. This season it is still in storage and I'm seriously considering selling it. It is fun to take others out on the water but how often do i really do that?? The kite is just so much more fun!

carbon your self a stronger leg then.
No excuse really! a master carbon craftsmen like yourself it should be a sinch.
get in there with some uni and double bias!... make a few spare!!
Do you ever feel the need to make extra tall legs so you can be taller? Or maybe short legs so you can blend into the croud?
Extra springy cheeta legs.
Hopefully this isn't offensive to you. But if I some how lost my legs i'd try to make all sorts of crazy leg contraptions and adaptions.
