Slingshot 17 or 19

Postby Guest » Tue Jul 15, 2003 1:23 pm

I am new to the sport and learning on an SS14, in 15kts+ its
got plenty of power, but on the light wind days I really
have to work the kite to stay up. At 215lbs, I'm looking for
a bigger kite. I feel that SS are built tough, I've crashed
mine many times, and its really held up.
Looking for some input on the SS 17 or 19

the 17 is a great kite with very good depower and range, and as you say its built.

i don't know anyone who rides either kite at your weight but one of our local guys has a 17 and he uses it in 10mph-20mph and he's 75kgs

so maybe the 19, but it will be a bit slower than the 17.
if you have a large board go for the 17.
if not then the 19.

i'm 72kgs and my largest is the 15, the smaller kites can be worked to get the wind out of them.

Thanks for the input, I'm currently riding a 6' 6" directional board
but plan on getting a smaller bi-directional, I'm leaning
toward the 19 because of generally lighter winds in
this area 10 to 15.
