New Cabrinha Line Management System

On our never ending quest to bring new development in kiting to the forefront, we have come across a genius new line management system. Our good friend and long time Cabrinha rider, Brett Lickle has been kiting from day one. From tester, to instructor his passion as an innovative kiter often brings him to our offices with great ideas. And we are stoked to fill you in on his latest.

The "T" system simplify’s line winding and requires no tools or gizmos. This hook and go method is a way to beat the system so you never have to string or lay out your lines again.

I'm going to go ahead and say what we're all thinking: "When did Nick Nolte get into kiteboarding?"

To be fair, I daresay Mr. Lickle will age more gracefully:

It's a good idea though, I'll have to try it out.

thanks, it is helpful, but involves too much thinking. already watching this clip makes one's brain go overdrive.

the classic rigging method is more fool-proof. you can come kiting with huge hangover and rig your kite quite right.

I used a similar method for a season till I realized that connecting the lines together and never running them out would cause the lines to twist onto themselves. To the point where if you let a line go slack it would twist and tangle onto itself, pita if there is debris the lines can hook onto. Running the lines out allows each line to untwist/unspin as well as ensures the lines are not crossed etc.
It takes a few minutes but if you have the space it always good to walk em out and check for knots, weak spots, kinks, and allow the lines to unspin.

Thanks for the walk through video. I like it and will try it, looks especially useful for some of our congested launch sites like this one I frequent:

I'm 99% sure Brett Lickle was one of the first guys to ride Jaws. He windsurfed it with Dave Kalama & I believe another guy. Based on that alone, the guy is 1000% more badass than any of us will ever be!!!! :D

Word!

I used it today. Set the bar up at home. Hit the beach, connected the lines(honestly thinking this will not work!) to the kite, walked the lines out and presto!!! No tangles, good to go! Nice tip!

Used to do that but had the problems laughingman described... now, I still lark's head steering to power on one side only... that makes for a single walkout to untangle and lay out lines. So long as you have a front line swivel...

Great that finally someone has picked up on it.

I have been using that system for the last 10 years and been teaching it to my kite students.

Good to have a nice little video to show people that they don't need a high tech solution to keep their lines sorted even if it's neither something new or associated with a brand.
