.
It would seem like the Professional Russian has the quadcopter best suited for shooting kiters.

I wondered how long till some guy would take my question literally! :jump: :jump: :jump:

PS: I came across that video during my searches, but it didn't occur to me to post it here. Good you did, RichardM. I don't mind that sort of topic hijacking...

@ryanroberts1983. This has got to be the "ideal" setup.Very impressive. But don't tell me your octocopter is carrying all 5 cams all at once? :o
For my non-professional needs it's a definite overkill for I want to do. Won't be using better (and heavier) than the GoPro, which fully satisfies my needs as it is attached to the board or the kite.
I would upgrade my kit (DJI Phantom) only if the wind becomes the limitation. I'll be able to tell in 2 weeks. I'm confident I will be eventually be able to get Android based FPV with it.
Look what you can get (admittedly on a windless day) with a DJI Pahntom, GoPro HD and Zenmuse H3-2D Gimbal. Unthinkable value and technology only a couple of years ago.

I feel like a pimp now. :-?

Discovery channel uses Gopro footage. Its high quality footage....The only things that is bad is vibrations make footage terrible. Solve vibration problems, and you'll have great useable footage. As for flying the Dji phantom in the wind. Thats beyond me. It should be able to hold position. Doesn't the dji use the naza global tracking? Return to home feature? It should be able to hold a positon fairly well. 20 knots is going to be the limit.. only a guess.

Phantom copycat? This is the proof the concept is good. Looks like it's got the same specs. I believe what makes a good multicopter is all in the controller. Hope Blade's is as good as Naza.
Under 500? Not sure; it looks like it's the price without the transmitter. :!:

These flying objects are like flying tripods, logical extensions of GoPros (and copycats); I wouldn't be surprised to see them all over the kitespots (but not only) within a year or two... and more regulations to follow.

20 knots indeed seems a maximum in laminar conditions for the Fantom. If speed is related to size (only my assumption), it looks like there is a tradeoff between max wind capability and (travel) portability.

When i'm flying I don't find 25 knots to be a problem as long as it's steady.
The gusts are a pain when recording a movie.

How much is you copter "heeling" in 25 knots?
Unless I am prepared to accept the skewed movie as it is, or post process it (straightening it up), a gimbal such as the Zenmuse H3-2D seems imperative. Unfortunately, it doubles the price of the Phantom kit  .
