It looked to me like he tried to launch in the 'fish pond'. Tried to grab his board to go into it.

Then finally he went downwind of the kids on the point and someone brought him his board, so he was then going out downwind of the 'fish pond'.

He might have been able to go out more safely (for himself and the kids) downwind of the fish pond if the kids were upwind of the point.
His launcher could maybe have walked further out at the point to try to get the kite into cleaner wind and he would have been downwind of the kids so they would not have been in danger.

this kind of thing pisses me off, the type that try to teach themselves or just have no regard for others around them if not oblivious to them, and the type that dont ask or take advise, i know a couple of guys that are the same, they may have had lessons but seem to ignore what they were taught, it also seems with some schools the safety comes second to selling equipment..sorry rant over!!, had 1 of these type of guys swing his kite within 2m of my lines as i was walking into the water today, with on shore wind and not much reaction time before the trees n buildings!!

oh.. and i also had 2 people walk up and ask to rent my gear today ..i asked if they had kited before..'no' was their answer...'no, you need lessons to fly these' was mine...fucking idiots!!

I think this should be shown to everyone!!!! "This is NOT how you do it." Perfect example of someone with shit for brains, almost taking out a family. My god if that were my spot I would not have been filming, and would have been yelling at the shit for brains to get into the water.

First time I launched with a board, my instructor yelled in my ear! GO DOWNWIND OF THOSE KIDS SWIMMING AND TAKE OFF. Ill never forget that, and avoid this at all cost!!!

If that were my family and that guy was slamming his kite all around my little kids( if i had them). There would be a problem. I don't know of a nice way to call people SHIT FOR BRAINS!!
