Well, it's an evolution of IDS, it might still look and feel the same way at the bar, but my understanding is that it flags to a single line instead of two lines as in previous years.
Take this with a grain of salt, I'm no expert and I may have misunderstood my source.

I didn't understand about two lines, could you explain better? Did you see that working in Germany?
As I know, You eject it and there is a single line holding your kite. You still having problems then activate the second and its gone.
2012 ids was trash to mount on water, 2013 came a little better, but I'd rather the old 2010/11 release.

Yes IDS is gone, now it is called 1X as in one line flag system, this is done different then any other brand on the market.
That is also the reason that the Contra has a different bar system.
