Hello! I am a student living in Miami, and I'm planning to bring my kites there from Europe. What kites should I bring? I weigh around 130 lbs, and I have kites that are 7,9 and 12

depends on weight and season.
Summer is light. Be very careful with the squalls, which can kill you. Don't go out alone, watch carefully what locals are doing.
From Nov-April you should have good winds with northerly cold fronts. Or nice SE winds.
Get to Crandon Park and talk to the locals there. Normally very nice people around, from all parts of the world.
Enjoy Miami, awesome place!!!

Well I heard Miami is not that bad for kiteboarding. I'm from Latvia so I need to decide which kites to bring there. So there's no strong wind? I'm not as interested in the summer season, it's rather September-April as you said, which is supposed to be the season

I didnt mean that is bad. It is just not good during summer. After September, winds start to blow. The wind is usually around 15 knots, and a few 20+ knots days around the month, which you might miss if you are a weekend warrior.
And welcome to Miami. cheers.

the wind here is only "bad" in the summer, you will be lucky to have power once every 2 weeks or so.
in the winter it's not "bad" but it is light, it is at least 12 to 15 knots a few days per week, and is usually higher than that once or twice per week. sometimes it will be 20-25 knots for a day or two in a row
i am 140 lbs and ride a 12m about 80% of the season, and a 9m for the rest. I don't own a 7m and only wish I had one maybe 2 or 3 times per year.

Ok thanks a lot guys! Also, what are the best kiteboarding spots in the Miami area? Is it Crandon park? When I went there this year, it said that everyone who wants to kiteboard there needs to pay annually some 200$ bucks. Do I need to become a club member there and qualify somehow to be able to kiteboard? I only have the IKO card with basic skills I guess, I got it when I had had like 10 days with an instructor. Now I ride very well though

you need insurance to ride in Crandon Park. Any other place, you just have to follow the rules. If you are looking for flat water, Matheson Hammock Park and the keys. Personally, I try to avoid Hammock Park since it only have one point to get in and out, so if you have an accident riding and get drawn downwind you will have a nice swim or a boat ride. It happened to me the first time I went there.
