The proof is seen in top level competitions like the Mens' PKRA Freestyle. No ram airs ever make it into the elite levels, ie the top 20.

That proves absolutely nothing other than who is the best at freestyle. Not saying your right or wrong, i don't know which is more aerodynamically superior (foils if i were a betting man) which is why i was interested in reading this but I am yet to read anything from any of your posts with any substance or credible information yet. Be interesting to hear from someone who actually knows what there talking about.

This idea is at least 20 years old.
Unlike kites, paragliders need to pass a series of tests, before they can start selling them.
However LEI paragliders get stuck at a point, when they intentionally colapse wing tips and see, if it returns to the initial shape on its own in a prescribed time.
Because they couldn't colapse the wing tips, they couldn't pass the test!

I think claiming that the Woman's slalom is a third tier comp is deeply disrespectful and sexist.

I understand that Elena Kalinia does very well in the course racing on a Russian foil when the wind is light. Currently she is 6th overall.

As for comments on course racing being being compared to ping pong, if it was SO easy, why did Karolina Winkowska (who would school most men at freestyle) not win the racing at Germany?

They are pretty much two different sports which require a whole set of different but equally specialised set of skills.

Try telling the top course racing men that they are doing a pussy sport and see how long you spend picking your teeth from your own shit.

Got a buddy in the US who races on ice with skis (whatever they call that! ) and he says those foils are just incredible and wipe the floor with everything else, even FSers. But I've also read that they're even more finicky than the Speed's...

Birds, wasps, stunt kites, and planes are rigid. ALL high performance aircraft (eg hang-gliders vs paragliders) have rigid structures. Rigid hang gliders out-perform soft paragliders on all measures. Interestingly, the trend in paragliders is towards increased rigidity, e.g. stiff mylar reinforcements, plastic stiffeners in the leading edges and carbon fibre rods sewn into the ribs. These stiffening innovations have resulted in paragliders that are so successful in competition that old-style soft gliders are no longer competitive. Similarly, kite manufacturers are always looking for ways to make kites more internally rigid, eg by joining the struts firmly to the leading edge, adding fifth lines, and mini-bridles.
