Boys and girls, does anybody have the inside track on Essouiara at this time of year? We re staying 20 mins south and will have some transport, but would love your input on weather, water temp, great spots, kite sizes etc. Please feel free to educate me. Thanks all

I was in Essouira this time last year. Kiting in the main bay is quite nice. There are a couple of kite schools and you should email or call them when you get there. They will give you the low down. You can hire gear easily if you don't want to take your own stuff. The water is cool, the wind is strong but a little gusty. You'll see the locals out if there is any kiteable wind.
It's a great place, lot of atmosphere and charm. Stick to the left side of the bay, where the Europeans hang out.
The place to get to is Daklah, that's the best kiting in Morocco possibly the best in Africa. It's hard to get to but worth it. Unfortunately, I never got there.
Have fun, Mark.

Marka got it pretty much spot on. You can check our site for more details

I highly recommend using the Explora Kitestation for Surf/Kite rental/lessons etc. A very professional team that had most of its instructors working in Tarifa before they came to open their spot in Essaouira. If you want any tours or see the flat water spots, ask them.

+1 for the Explora team, been there and they are super nice and professional.
Can't speak bad enough of the facilities, crew, prices of Dakhla. Beautiful spot, worst expierence-ever for all the rest.
It's ok if you are 100% independent, bringing your own gear, and willing to have big trade-offs in terms of comfort. If you ever need any servicing from the "school" good luck.
I'll never go back there, if i want flat i go to Egypt in Africa.

Guys thanks for all of this. Hydrofoil looks great! I think we re all set up really, got a great house behind a deserted beach, so not worried about that. Two things - eater temperature, full suit, shortly, rash vest. Which one? And any poo gets to some flat water/lagoons will be a welcome change from the endless waves we ll be on! Thanks all

Water is cool. Might be 17 degrees. I would recommand full long 3/2mm.
I tried once without a wetsuit - after 30mins on the water I felt frozen.
Do not expect too much time spent on waves - there are not too many at this time of the year.

Do you reckon we ll be on 7s more than 12s? Comparing the wind stats are a little misleading...
