In my opinion the kiteboarding companies have raised prices more aggressively than most of the other big purchase items I buy and Cabrinha is one of those that always leads the pack. In the end it doesn't bother me, I have enough gear to wait until the end of the season and buy new stuff at close to half price once the guys who paid full price have done the company's R&D for them. That way I know whether the kite is any good or not, which you wouldn't think you would have to worry about at premium prices would you?

There is no way that Cabrinha would just eat that extra money up and continue to increase the pricing as they have every single year since they started.
The patent fee is $12 per kite. I'm sure if you ask nicely your Cabrinha retailer will discount the cost of the patent for you.

I love my 2013 Xbow 13m. I couldnt take the chance that lightwind power may have been replaced, picked up a 2013 Xbow 18m over the weekend so I didnt miss out on extra range.

I will keep 2013 quiver and wait for 2015 before I consider upgrading, after all the kinks are worked out of the 2014 new line.

Alias freerace board looks interesting. I like that they added a carry handle like on a SUP board. Carrying those wide boards are usually a pain to carry.

Looks like price will be $1299 though? That's more than the Airush Sector (~$1150) which is on its fourth generation as the only successful freerace board. Plus the sector offers tri-fin option...

looks like msrp is $608 USD, ridiculous!! whatever, only time will tell if that bar breaks or is worth the closeout prices next year, i dont think if i had all the money in the world i would pay 608 for a bar and lines, because in a couple of years a bar is going to cost $1000 the way things are going...

granted they have R&D, inflation and plastic mold costs and all that stuff, but really!? 600 bucks now...i dont think i would be bitching as much if the prices weren't getting exponentially higher every year

The IDS is one of the features I liked about the Crossbow. Makes it easy to drift launch and pack down, which is important to me.
I guess I have to get a closeout deal on a 2013 Xbow LW if my ideal kite is going out of production.
