A Question to Bruno Sroka - France 2 Ireland crossing

Postby andrepen » Fri Aug 02, 2013 5:32 pm

I have read about france - ireland crossing.

Bruno went on a raceboard.

Is it only one tack? Didnt your back leg got tired?

Wasnt it better to use a board less wide in the back?

Doing these very long tacks, without changing stance, is very tiring in the raceboard.

Cheers

Andre

Hey Andre,

Thx for following the France/Ireland open sea kitesurf crossing.
Regarding your question yes I did one way the whole crossing from france to ireland. I have been studying a lot the weather condition before leaving for this challenge and I knew that the wind will get light in the second part of the crossing so because of this I have prepared three boards: race, slalom and foilboard. During the first part the wind was strong so I was using the slalom board and after I switched several times between race and foil board because the wind was not strong enough to continue with slalom board. I agree that the race board is much more physical but it was helping me to keep going when the wind was not enough strong for the other boards. This was the only choice that allowed me to do the crossing because switching the kites would have taken way to much time.
If you are looking for more info check www.brunosroka.com website blog/actu section and if you are interested in some other details let me know.

Cheers,
Bruno

Thanks for the answer man, it makes sense.... Change the board is faster than changing the kite!
