Loving Airstyle......getting me inspired!

Postby fat blokes can fly » Sun Aug 04, 2013 2:59 pm

Loving the Airstyle DVD which after a few years of little riding is getting me inspired to get back into it.

Since the evolution of SLE kites I could never get on with Airstyle tricks. They are good kites but lazy. Due to this I have recently purchased a 2006 Rhino 20m and are eager to get some time on the water back on my favourite kite of all time.

Would love to purchase or try the 2011 18m Dyno or equivalent. Advice would be appreciated?

Last of all thanks to Toby 8)

great to hear...and more than welcome!

R6...good kite as well!

The Dnyo 2011 18 is better though...

Keep looking thru Eby and ask shops if they have it somewhere.

But do also test new gear, there are some good kites out there from what I hear.
Maybe I can test some kites in 1 week, being at the French Triple King Contest.

But one problem will stay...the Microloop...still some shops sell for a good price the 2011 or 2012 bar...get one of those and get an upgrade kit.

And now get out there and get those tricks nailed! You will see, you can push it quiet far.
And your body needs to adjust as well, you need good muscles for the boardoffs to make them easier to put back on.

And being on the 20...remember to play it safe...keep the how tos in mind, so you won't get into trouble!

Get hooked...and enjoy!!! :thumb:

Thanks for the reply.

I rode the 20m rhino2 from its release until I ripped it in half twice in 2006. On that kite I could do one foot, and board offs. Just could not do them on subsequent kites due to long throw and not getting on with the pull down stopper.

The bar and lines that came with my newly purchased r6 20m does have the microloop :thumb:

This ones for you Toby.

My first one footer in 7 years in minimum wind on my newly acquired Rhino6 20m.
Only problem is I always used my forward hand to remove board having to move my back hand to the forward position to redirect the kite. This back in the day resulted in tendinitis, so I must try to get into back hand board off.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Cool, thx for sharing!
Do you have a North bar?
Add a microloop an then you don't need to move the backhand to the forward position on the bar!

Yes I have the north bar with micro loop.
But I still need to redirect the kite and doing it with the back hand on the front of the bar is physically too much of a strain on my tendons. So must learn to take the board off with my back hand like everyone else :-/
Maybe this old picture explains itwell (2005/6). My direction of travel is to my left.

Just tey the other hand and see how it goes.
You need to do it with both hands anyway to progress even further
