Cheers everyone, was thinking about other PU products and might try this one.

The best is to keep it simple tho. One might use the ABS rails but I think it's an overkill (maybe for wakestyle is not).

Yes, nice boards you have here!

Sorry for posting links to my other forums. It is quite time consuming to write the same thing all over the Net.

Cheers.

I might have a go with Smooth 310.

This is a pre made rail, almost no bubbles:

A lot more on the above links...

NO Dude, don't apologize for that ; it's Cool of Ya to give us all that info !!

And i plan to use the info, by sticking with Epoxy rails until you come up with
something Better !!
Mean-while : (back to that Other project) ; i'm getting Tired of having Failures
on that one as well. It's ALL a learning curve, it seems ?

Personally I don't see the point in having rails at all if your running a wood core board. Just seal you wood up with resin and ride. I guess if you a rough buggar and want to drag you board across the ground on its edge you might need rails?

I have done countless boards with epoxy and pu rails but after a while I did an experiment. No rails. That is no extra thickness added. I use equivalent to 30oz eglass each side on a corecell board in a pneumatic press. The rails end up being 1.5 mm on tips and 2-3mm in center. I can tweak that depending on where I end the core. Usually I go for about 1cm solid glass between the core on main side and flex tips vary up to 10cm. Lots of room to bang the crap out of it and not see corecell. The flexy tip thing is underated by most big brands IMO.

in a crash, banging a shin or foot on a 5mm rail is bad enough, 1.5mm tips?
Just don't cut your foot off by accident!

Seriously I hear you. However from my experience 1.5mm rounded is not that bad compared to razor fins especially race boards and to some degree surf and sector type boards. If the board comes at you fast enough to cause damage it will. With a TT after more than 100 boards and 30-40 different people noone has been cut at all. Most people get f^%ked up on surfboards from what I see. Board flips over and yahoo daggers everywhere. There are a few brands like flysurfer that has rather skinny rails as well. But I do take your point and take care to round and soften the finish so it is round to minimize any chance to cut.

Ok update. I went and calipered my latest boards with texalium and 20cm triax, we are at 2.3mm. The sharpest I made was 1.5mm. FS says they are into 2mm tips now for 2014.
