Better a 6m or a 5m for 30-45 knots???

Postby joandani » Thu Jan 12, 2012 12:17 pm

Hi, i have a 12, 9 torch, and now i have a 7m fuel but with 35 knots iam in the limit overpowered even with the 20m bar. (my weight: 60Kg)

I am thinking to get another fuel 5m, but some people tell me that I would have a 6m fuel, cause the high end is almost the same than the 5m and the difference is in the lowend, the problem with the 5m they told me that u need a high minimum wind, 6m have more range, definitely the told me. I would ask u if a 5m fuel 2009 could have any problem starting with 30 knots, cause before iam still comfortable with the 7m fuel 2011, and i found a new fuel 5m 2009 for a very good price.

I buy the 5m or i have to wait to find a 6m fuel?

pd: another question is if with the 4lines bar 2011, it would works with the 5m 2009 fuel, cause i think this 2009 kite wirked too with 5th line bar didn't it?

thnx a lot and sorry for my english

Definitely 5M if you have a 7M.

I liv in Penghu, Taiwan (very windy place) and used my 5M probably 100 days a year.
I always get 5M+7M combination. You can use your 5M 30-45 knot no problem.

2009 fuel will work with 2011 bar. 2009 is a four line kite, just like newer Fuels, only really minor tweaks each year.

Yes definitely get a 5 meter kite. The 6 will be too close to the 7 that you have. Or you can sell your 7 and get a 5 meter.

Hi Jan,

Where is that magic place? Can you tell us more about it?
I'm coming!
How is the water quality there? Chinese through everything into the water and I don't want to end up coming out of the water without skin and meat (only bones left).

Cheers

Hi I'm a 62kg rider and my set is 11-9-7-5.
it's totally bullshit that you need 30 knots for the 5. Usually other riders are about 70-75 kg and they don't have in mind the range. Remember that they weight 25% more than you..

I don't know which kind of board are u using but i can use the 5 from 25 knots (cab custom). Maybe the nice spot is a little bit higher.
For examples for the hadlow pro5.5 the suggested wind range is 24-39 and they claim 16-23 for a 11 so it's a pretty fair claim i think.

About confort: i use the 7 with about 30 knots but if i want do kiteloops or unhooked stuff i'll rather pump the 5.

Cheers,
Roberto
