Hi Kupono, the 2011 and later Mako's are made with a wood core, which is a much better substrate for laminated skin. I haven't heard of any delamming since.

from the images is not so clear, the bottom shape and rails seems really similar to my 2011 (and 2012) Mako

from the advertising I thought 2013 news were higher rails similar to Underground surfboard, not differences in concave distribution

It sounds like the shape has changed from the foam cored King. How does this translate into performance and feel?

for me a bit less grip and a little faster (speaking about 150x40)

I expected the 2013 to have "pizza edges" like this surfboard (btw, Arribarriba, nice Italian shaper)

Heinzbush and others:

Yes this is why I bought this board as a "transition" board between my monster door and my Cabrinha Trigger 6"3". You get the best of both TT world and the surfboard world in mutant mode and can use in in surf 3 fin mode as well. I want the Mako to work on the flats, hold edges under power, and in waves, (door caught edge on waves) and then gradually work to be able to gybe with the Trigger. I am 122 kg. Yes go with the King. I tried one in Hatteras in April and it was sweet.
I will take some more pictures tomorrow of edges and concave.

hi 4,

watch the footloose videos on how to gybe strapless. put the TT in the storage shed.. throw straps in the trash. go out in flat conditions with your 6-3 without straps. after 5 sessions you will forget that the TT is in the shed and be glad you tossed the straps. session 5-10 take on some chop. session 10 -20 take on serious roughs. session 20 you can kite strapless in any conditions.

... guess what the mailman had for me :) My 2013 King arrived!

I immediately unpacked it and set it up, however I have a few questions/comments to all you King riders:

- My King arrived with 2 x 56mm fins, 3 x 100mm fins and additional 3 x 100mm fins, which are slightly bigger than the other 3x 100mm. Is this right???
- The footstraps seem really small and tight... I hope they extend a bit after a bit of use...

FINS:
I wanna first ride it in twin tip mode and then switch to mutant.... Just want to confirm the "usual" fin-setup...:
TT mode:
56mm as center fin on the back and front? Or the 100mm?
Mutant mode:
Back: 56mm left & right and 100mm center
Front: 56mm or 100mm?

Interesting: On the pics from "4mylifetime" at the beginning of the thread, I can see the straps are set-up in mutant mode, but the fins in TT mode... any specific reason for that?

Thx
