Where to snowkite?

Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in western US or Canada where it is possible to snowkite within walking distance of if not right out the the front of a comfortable lodge. I have a very young family now so the snowkite holiday requirements have changed.

Something similar to Finsehytta in Norway would be perfect. Is there anywhere like this?

Yes, Tim, there are snowkite spots that fit that description. While it is not a "lodge", in Island Park, Idaho (near West Yellowstone, Montana) one can stay in rental cabins directly in front of a very reliable kite spot. The terrain is basically flat with a few terrain features. The wind here is very reliable and the snow quality and quantity is usually excellent. Long season, too: November to May. There are a few other kite spots in the nearby area requiring only a 10 - 15 mile drive if you want more terrain choice. Excellent Nordic skiing in West Yellowstone with some of the best grooming you will find anywhere. Alpine skiing is 1 - 2.5 hours away at Big Sky, Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole.
