Was solo landing my 13m edge yesterday and this swam of kids ran onto beach. maybe 6 or 8 of them ranging from 4-8 yrs.
The instantly run towards the kite as i'm lowering it and try to grab it. So I fly it out of the way and tell them and the mother that its dangerous for them. I move away and go to land down the beach. The snot gobblers follow. So I tell them again. No listening. so I tell them a third time. All this time the mother is just standing there letting her kids run amok.
Finally I manage to get the kite down without kids in the way.
So the kids run up. and start chucking sand on my kite and yanking the lines. I tell them and the mother it is dangerous and they can hurt themselves and not to play with the kite.
I'm then winding up my lines and the kids are back kicking the kite chucking sand on it one of the is standing and jumping up and down on the canopy.
The mother is just standing there watching doing nothing.
WTF?
So now I'm getting a bit pissed. I go up one last time and state to the mother and the kids not to touch the kite. Then I mention to the mother that its very expensive and she will be liable to replacement if its damaged. I'm bluffing.
She finally gets the message and moves the kids on.
So..... it was perfectly fine in this womans mind to let her kids play with something dangerous that she didn't own..... But not acceptable if she had to pay for repairs......?
Stupid. Some people shouldn't be aloud to breed.
Rant over.

You should have found their car and done the same to it. See what she would have to say about that.

Welcome to my world as a secondary teacher. Parenting has been raped by modern psychological bullshit, where parents are not being parents and are trying to be their friends. It is getting worse my friends not better.
You showed a great deal of patience man. Respect.
My bro had is edge ripped by a dog jumping on it the other day.
Same dog come running over two days later and I was like a frothing manic werewolf to scare the dog away. The owner took offence and tried to confront me, I explained between angry spittle come out of mouth the cost of the kites and that he essentially owes my brother such and such.
He promptly shut the f*** up and haven't seen him since.
You are a better man than me...

You should have looped it right at ground level and taken all of them out like bowling pins. My son is 5 and understands what he can and cannot do when he is at the beach with me and mom while I am kiting.
You are right though...some people shouldn't breed.

+1 what W Oz says. Parents today don't discipline their kids. To Flippin many time outs. Does no good. If would have acted like that as a kid my Mom would have jerked a Knot on my head. I would have gotten the message.

Are you familiar with modern pedagogy tautology? I am and I can tell you most of it is based on this.
