Kite Buggy Advice

Postby diogovilla » Thu Aug 22, 2013 8:47 pm

Hi,

My father is 60 years old and is a very big guy (140kg). I showed him an image of a kite buggy and now he is asking me to buy it for him.

Can anyone advise me on the right kite and buggy for this situation?

Thanks a lot!

Peter Lynn make a good one,had a couple of them, great fun, always used foil kites with handles more control and fun, fastest way to get a 6 pack, you can just cruise or go mad, foils are safer as you can use kite killers on the handles, foils pack some serious power,so 3 meter good start, its easy to get the hang of and i sure your dad will love it,TONY

I owned a Bigfoot and sold it last year. I've regretted it ever since..
You can ride it on any surface. I preferred the sand. It's a sure way to work on your abs. It's a killer workout on them.
You might be able to get some additional info in the land section of this forum.
Best of luck.

buggying is great fun and easy to learn

At the specified weight you do need a heavy version and make sure his bottom fits in between the side frames.

The Peter Lynn buggy is from the original inventor of this sport and has had 20 years of development behind it, while still keeping with original design parameters- light, strong, Stainless and easy to assemble from scratch or if transporting, removing the rear axle only will fit in most car boots easily giving 10-20 seconds to assemble.

4 line foils are the easiest to use, with pack down and setup and storage, but any controllable kite will work from a NASA wing to a LEI

can get away with a couple of kites - a big and a small, but once the sickness takes hold then you may need a bigger car or van.

Buggys prefer onshore winds, but if enough wind and a wide tidal (hard sand) zone tacking upwind is easy and you can cross tacks at right angles (head 45 degrees to windward) rather than 20 degrees typical with surfing.

Big foot buggys can go more places, but they are heavier and this makes it easier for the kite to eject you, so get some experience, yes they do float but you will need new bearings sooner rather than later.

Buggies are awesome. particularily if you have dunes or deserts. get 2 one for yourself and one for the old man. then you can go cruising together.

check out this cruzy vid one of my buddies uploaded.

PS bigfoot buggies are the way and the light
