Hi Guys,

I've been trying these for at least a year now, and still haven't landed a single one. Sometimes i catch the bar, or get my fingers to it. However, even if I did, i never land on the board, my weight is always backwards and i crash onto my back.

Here's a couple of attempts on video, The first one is a typical attempt (with a typical outcome:))
I don't do ones like the second one that often, but worth showing a different angle regardless.

Can anyone shed any light on what I'm doing wrong? This trick is doing my head in  :angryfire:
What do i need to do to stop landing on my backside? :)

Cheers!

I have trouble too on this one, more and more now because of my shoulders. The first one was better probably because you pulled the bar to your hip wheres as you didn't in the second one. When the kite is lower, you might find it easier to pull it in. Plus sometimes the spin is easier and your arm kinda slingshots around back to the bar. Just keep trying and focus on pulling that bar down to your hip, as you get closer, keep looking through your spin.

Nice work, you are almost there.

I think you are leaning to far back to load. I use to do the same thing and have similar issues where i'd land on my back even when making the pass.
Change the way you load and pop on this trick, try staying a little more upright. You are better off having a little more power and edging less when you pop.

Keep pulling the bar in bending your arms (like you are already doing) and just before you let go of the bar with your front hand, yank the bar towards your hip (creating slack in lines).

You should be able to throw the rotation and land on your board riding down wind (even when you miss the pass). Like landing wrapped.

Hope that's not confusing & good luck.

The failure is entirely down to me and not my equipment. I'm always the weakest link :)
I did speak to one very well known pro kitesurfer about back mobes, and it took him 3 years to learn it...

Not an expert ive just landed a few back2wrapped and having problems with it but in the 2nd attempt i think you let go of the front hand too soon, i would wait a little bit more, i think this would make the bar closer to you and make the pass and the landing easier. Wait to let go when you are completely on the "toeside" position in the air. I think this would help, try and tell me :)

Speedy- Back2wrapped is a back mobe!

I've been working on these all so. Some kiting and at the cable park. I have landed a few kiting but only 1 at the cable.
Ok it looks like your under rotating. You can either take them bigger to give yourself more time or rotate faster. One of the local wake-boarders told me the key is a "snappy pop and a karate chop". This is not the easiest trick to learn so just keep at it. If it helps land it a few times with out passing. I tried that but I had shoulder surgery last year and we will just say they don't like it when I land blind or wrapped now.

Oh then i can claim ive done a backmobe :) dont know about all this terminology 'battle' i know there are differences between cable vs kite terminology

ive got two different advices. One is like yours: 'rotate faster', when i do that i edge longer and i release later, making the backroll rotation a lot faster. The other advice ive been told and here too people say 'dont release too late or you will end up with too much weight backwards' like the guy who opened the post. You can see that advice in iksurfmag in the article about the back2wrapped too.

so, is it better to hold edge longer and release later or not?

I'm not sure with a kite since we are in our off season. I know the longer I hold my edge at the cable park the slower I rotate.

As far as names goes. If the trick comes from wake-boarding I stick with their names. They invented it so they get to keep the name.
