Hi lightwinds challengers
The best combo I found to avoid learning riding hydrofoil surf :baby: like Carafino or better in 10Knts or so @ 86Kg (you got to become metric anyway) is todate the F-one Signature Bamboo Fish 5.10 (2013) with the 17m Cloud from BoardRiding Maui.
Still lots of fun :thumb:

with 10 Knots, you don't need 17M with Hydrofoil, here is a 9M Cabrinha Nomad in 6-9 Knots

I like how the hydrofoil appears to sit in the water a little more, allowing you to both ride the water or the foil. Who makes that particular foil and board?

Rush Randle, the board is more than 10 years old.

I was about to say the same - the very purpose of this thread would be to go through alternatives to hydrofoils, right ?

You were very clear :thumb:

And every single answering post has been about foils :(

The next best low wind alternative to hydrofoil would be the race board.

Agree, ranked in "light wind" order, IMO, taking some typical of these :

1. Hydrofoil.
2. Raceboard.
3. Freeraceboard.
4. Door type board and big skimboard and small finned freeraceboard.
5. Flat Fish type wave board.

Then there is a middle zone, like
Standard TT, a bit wider/bigger.
Light wind waveboard, flat and wider.

And the "bad" ones regarding light wind, are
True waveboards, lots of rocker and curves.
Smaller TT's.
Wakestyle boards with heavy rocker.

When you look at it now - it is apparent that the more fun, the worse it is for light wind

Just my take on this.
