anyone with some time on both? can you pls. outline the main pros & cons for the use in the middle of the spectrum b/w racing and freeriding. I am looking for one that will be primarily a great light wind kite good for both freeriding and [less often] racing.
thanks

there is a review on powerkiteshop:
http://www.powerkiteshop.com/kites/cabrinhacontra3.htm
"
One of the first things you are going to notice with this kite as soon as it is in the air is its stability. Rock solid, stable and it just sits there waiting for your input! Even in the low wind conditions - this kite doesnt luff!
As soon as you are in the water - you will also notice you will be typically the first and only person out there under 10 knots! Both myself and my larger sized pie-eating friend were out on the Contra in about 8 knots and were comfortably riding in the glass smooth waves as well as keeping upwind.
You dont typically get to start jumping until 12 knots but with this kite - it will have you boosting big air in the same conditions - allowing you to land in mirror flat water. The hangtime on this kite is truly amazing!
Not wanting to sound bias but it's a Cabrinha product and they dont come better built than this kite - super strong and reinforced in every aspect.
Bar pressure is a little more than most but I think you need it in the conditions you will use it to allow you to keep riding in the light winds.
Turning on this kite is almost instantaneous - any input on this bar and the kite is moving along and powering through the turns with the same amount of power as is flying straight.
Overall - this kite pulls upwind like a train - the jumps are big and floaty and getting up and riding wave in less than 10 knots is always a bonus! Its an excellent quality - well built product!"

Thanks for sharing Heinzbusch...I am doubting to buy the contra 15m with my 2013 North Select (very early planer!!) or a bigger waveboard next to my 10m 2014 SB...
I read the 2014 10m SB has the power of an 11m 2013....
Any suggestions?

Tried a 15 Contra and 16 Velocity back to back in 8 to 10 knots. The new Contra is definitely a nice light wind kite. With 3 thin struts it feels nimble and turns fast for a big kite. Bar pressure is a world of difference from the old Contras, medium and comfortable. Is very stable, goes upwind great, jumps good with nice float.
Velocity is just that, fast and awesome upwind, but a bitch to steer. If you want to go fast, upwind, and in a straight line, that is is the kite.
For all around fun in light wind I'd take the Contra.

Thanks ozonelevel for the feedback!
Did you ride any other lightwind kites to compare it to?

I've had an Ozone Edge15m and currently have a 13m Cloud. The Edge is very similar to the Velocity. The Cloud has about the same power as the Contra, turns faster but doesn't jump as well. The Contra pulls upwind better, and the Cloud handles very different and takes a while toget used to. For really light winds I prefer the Cloud for its nimble steering and stability in really light wind.

I try to stay out of KF as every post become a war!!
But seriously the CLOUD!!!! I tried the 13m and my SB14m has HIPS more power..
Don't even know why people even bother with this kite the Flapping machine!

PS. Yes I'm biased BUT I only use/sell kites that are nice!
