Building an alaia, how too

After seeing a vid of a guy kiting an alaia I'm pretty keen on making one. I've had a look around on the Internet and there are some vague guides. Does anyone know a good guide for a guy who doesn't have the slightest clue on how to build boards. Or do anything practical whatsoever.

Also seen a lot on shaping, I'm going to use this for light wind kiting so need advice on what shape and dimension it needs to be. I'm 6 ft 3 and 80kg. Help would really be appreciated before i glue a piece of wood to my leg. Cheers.

Yeah they look good, but like most 18 year old kitesurfers I'm broke because I spent my money on cable parks and beer. So this is a cheap alternative for light wind days. Also I'm not that bad with wood in a non sexual manor. Plus my mate will give me a hand if I help him build one too so I'm sure we will work it out if some one gives me some more info

Anyway, now is as good a time as any to learn something.
The instructions on the web and Youtube are pretty detailed.
Search: Build an Alaia kiteboard, and build an Alaia.

I don't believe you will save money on your first build, after buying the wood, glue, glass and resin.. then buying (or borrowing) the power tools, hand tools and clamps.
But you will learn a lot, which can never be bad.
Less beer...more books.

I posted up what I did on page 2. You don't need to buy expensive paulownia if you don't have the means. I made mine with 1" pine from Home Depot and just put one layer of glass on the bottom. It came out really nice and it rides awesome! Not bad for one weekend's work. My all time favorite for light wind and smooth water. It never fails to start a conversation either.

That waterlust website looks good, ill use that to build my board. I think I'll use the alaia dimensions that sindarloto posted but i think I'll scale it up slightly for a bit more light wind performance. Ill post my success, or fail depending on what happens. Cheers for the help guys

well it depends on your weight.
I´m 90 kgs and with a 2011 kahoona 13,5 I can go upwind with barely 10-11 knots. But I have to admit that from 13-14 knots this board is happier.
try it, its a really fun board.
