IKA News:

Interpretation regarding acceptable Tolerances for series production equipment

An interpretation has been published regarding acceptable manufacturing variances for series production course racing boards:

Question 11 dated September 2013:

What are the tolerances in the builder provided measurements that equipment inspectors will accept as manufacturing variances during event post-race measurement ?

Interpretation:

Except for the Rockerline, Concave and Vee, Equipment Inspectors normally consider a variation of 3mm as acceptable manufacturing tolerance. However, the final decision if a measurement difference is caused through normal production variation, wear and tear, or other reasons, and the value of the accepted variation is solely within the equipment inspectors descretion, and he may apply larger or smaller tolerances when justified following the principle that "any equipment is built to the highest possible degree of uniformity in every performance related respect".

Note: From the 2014 equipment registration cycle onwards stricter tolerances may be applied which will vary from measurement point to measurement point.

The IKA technical committee has requested the builders to provide additional data to the original builder provided measurements A-E. The data can be found following this link. Please note, that only measurements A-E can be taken "at home". Sailors of equipment with missing builder provided data in the chart may contact the builder directly.

Article I think requires live links and reference to original content.
If anyone has it that would be good to see posted here.
