The 2013 Butterfly Effect World Tour lands and expands in Europe and more.

Maui, Hawaii September 13th, 2013.
The Butterfly Effect World tour began the year with the Snow Edition Event in Arosa, Switzerland (March), landed in Maui, Hawaii (April), Cabarete, Dominican Republic (July), Dakhla, Morocco (August), Silvaplana, Switzerland (August), Torbole, Italy (August), and has one remaining BE Tahiti Trip in October! This year’s events saw its largest number of participants registering in each event, doubling in size and succeeding all expected numbers and predictions. Local and visiting women gathered around the world participating at the different Butterfly Effect events worldwide. The events are open to women who windsurf, kitesurf, surf, stand-up paddle (SUP) or kayak. The water women unite their individual athletic abilities to celebrate their accomplishments as a united group. Over the
course of the event many other girls and women were inspired to get out on the water and try
some of the sports for the first time. The events included beach cleanups, safety, yoga, yoga on
SUP, wind sport instruction, community give back sessions, and a welcoming “Aloha” speech by
Tatiana Howard followed by her spontaneous Hawaiian surprises, as well as food, gear, music,
and unique cultural gifts from local sponsors in each and every country.

Highlights
- Raising $8,000 for the DREAM Project – BE Dominican Republic
- Record number of women stand up paddling together at the BE Maui (350+ participants)
- First ever Lake Garda event in Italy – BE Italy
- The beach cleanups on Maui and Dominican Republic resulted in over 100+ bags of garbage
being picked up off the beaches proving that the events are positively impacting our small surf
communities and preserving our natural playground.

“DREAM is especially honored to be part of this great community and global effort to
empower women through sport. Many of DREAM’s programs are centered around
leveling the playing field for girls and young women in school and life. We believe that
the Butterfly Effect is a perfect reflection of those efforts.” Jonathan Wunderlich, Director
of Development for DREAM project. The Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring
(DREAM) Project is a US 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides quality education for all
children born into poverty in rural areas and small communities of the Dominican Republic.

“The Butterfly Effect is a wonderful community event, which has grown tremendously
since its humble beginnings,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa of Maui. “Organizers did an
incredible job making sure everyone was safe in the water and we look forward to an
even bigger and better event in the future. Mahalo.”
