Would have been better to use smaller lines and smaller kite. Gave a lesson myself recently and hooked my leash directly into my students safety line (after removing his leash of course)...its not IKO method but it would certainly prevent this mishap....a minor potential to lacerate the student's lower extremities probably...but avoiding a broken neck more likely.....

first, the student has no helmet.
Second, I'm not sure its possible to get that much lift (enough to pull 2 people out of the water completely) with the kite so deep in the window. Yep, kite is almost at 3 o'clock position and the bar is not even cranked, looks straight to me.
I'm thinking this was photoshoped.
Another thought.... The pilot does not have a stream of water falling from him as I would expect from being ripped out of the water.
