Trick definition

Postby Oldpeople » Tue Oct 01, 2013 9:17 pm

Just a quick question. I have enjoyed a great deal watching the air style dvd, but what is the difference between a single back roll and a back 360, a double back roll and a back 720 etc.? Is toby calling it a back roll if you don't send the kite and a rotation if you do? I know it's not really all that important but am just curious.

Correct!
Rolls are with the kite a one position.
The other front or back are with sending the kite.

Thanks. I really enjoyed the DVD.
I ride strictly hooked and am the definition of old school since I am 66. But I can do double front and back rolls/ rotations and the occasional triple so I don't feel so bad.
I have been also working on a little different riding style. You know how ice skaters when doing a routine sort of pause and get all steady before doing a big jump or trick? I always thought it wrecked the flow of the routine. Well I always do that before trying a trick. So I have been trying just linking two or more tricks with just a bounce on the landing and immediately just starting the next trick. So I do one back roll then just bounce the landing ( just hitting the water and lifting right off) and then doing another. I have managed to link some back roll/back rolls and some front roll/ back rolls and the reverse. But boy do you good kite control ( or certainly a lot better than me) to do them consistently. It feels pretty cool when you do land them though . And someone really good who could link 3 or more would look amazing.

sounds cool!

I have one trick where I do it similar: Backroll - Backroll - Backroll with Kiteloop.

Fun! :thumb:
