Tested a 13 sqm kite

A friend of mine suggested me to test a kite, which he really likes.

It is a Dyno 2011 13.0

He said I should use 32m lines, so I did.

Unfortunately the wind wasn't that strong, maybe 16-18 knots, so I could not really test it for its ability. But so far I am happy that I have a smaller kite that with 32m lines is still controllable.
I could do many tricks with it and it feels nice in the air. Lift and hangtime is good, but need more wind to really judge it. Can't wait to get it out in strong winds to see its potential!

So, if you think your kites are too fast, try longer lines and see the difference in turning speed.

I just a 2012 13 m dyno. It has 32 meter lines. I haven't flown it yet. I am used to my 12 and 16 m switchblades that I think have 25 meter lines. Do the longer lines just affect the turning speed? Or higher up does the kite have more power due to winds increasing with height? What about stability etc? What about affect on timing a jump?
Any feed back would be appreciated.
By the way just ordered a microloop from air style. I am excited to try it. Every time before when I would try a deadman and released my hands I would fall like a stone since the carbrinhas have no stopper.

yes, it will turn slower.
It flies further up, so it will have more power.
Try it and see how it performs for you with longer lines.

The microloop will make the deadman much easier and more stylish!

You have a much longer powerstroke as well. If you dive the kite as you would on your 25 meter setup, you will probably notice a difference. Also you may think you sent the kite for a jump and are ready to bring it back down, and might realize that the kite never even made it as far as you thought for the initial sine. At least that happened to me a few times before I remembered I had an extra 8 meters on my setup.

I tried it on my 14m, but having to time everything different put me off. Maybe I should have tried it longer. Another point I did not like is the fact that you use the smaller kite in stronger winds then usually (especially airstylers sail overpowered) and the longer lines make the kite more powerful. So that works contrary. For that reasons, I wonder did anyone tried shortening the bar. Would that not be a better solution?

Shoter lines = more responsive, smaller kite = more responsive. Big kite, long lines, smaller board

I do not like airstyle and am no expert, but thse rules apply to every style.

No, not yet.

Shortening the bar will also help to make a kite slower.
Look at Alex Pastors bars...he barely can fit one hand on one side.

Thanks for the feed back. I am new to north kites. With the longer lines on the dyno 13m which setting for the back lines does it make sense to use? The lighter bar or the heavier bar attachment point?

not sure which I used...but I had more pressure on the bar...so try the less pressure!
