Evo 2014 -when? Is it true that changes are so radical?

Postby przemj » Sat Sep 07, 2013 10:24 am

Hello.

Do you have any clue when new North Evo '14 will be presented? Has anybody touched/tested it yet?

I remember one guy wrote something about Evo getting some flying characteristics changes to move it in the direction of the discontinued Fuse.

Is it simple FUD or can it be true? Despite huge quality problems which I hoped North will address (or drop from the market altogether) I'm really happy with the current Evo characteristics, so that would be very bad news for me (and I think many other people who like what Evo currently can do).

Can somebody comment on this?

It does look like higher aspect ration to me. So they might have tuned some more power into it?!

Hi,

It seems like the EVO guys/girls are not happy with the changes to the new EVO and the FUSE guys/girls are not happy with North about them to discontinue production of the FUSE.
North-do you copy that?

Cheers
Caesar (who believes the FUSE is the best kite out there for my style of kiting)

Awesome, love the 2012 and 2013 evo but was always on the fence between evo and fuse... Seems the choice will be easy this year!

Any idea on the release date?

More freeride, less freestyle, similar to the Rebel. Sounds more like the fuse.

:(

What's the point of introducing another rebel-like kite...

Yep, this gem + quality problems... Looks like it's time to move to another manufacturer.

Ok I have gone through the North specs on the 2013 Fuse and Evo. Comparing them to the 2014 Evo.
I am only looking at the Freeride, freestyle specs and up wind ability as this is where North will be targeting its sales.
Really good news for the 2013 Evo riders as everything is the same except you gain more lift and hang time. For the Fuse riders we will be down on upwind performance and slightly down on the sheet n go which is not much in that department. But of course you gain more in the freestyle area. The biggest for me is better lift.......wow better lift than the Fuse :cool2:
The reason I preferred the Fuse to the Evo was the hang time and up wind ability. But now I will sacrifice the up wind ability with more lift with the same hang time.
If the specs are what North say they are, this kite is well worth a test.
