I recently purchased a 51 cm cabrinha bar which is slightly smaller than
my old bar, it seems to turn my 12 meter about the same, which is quite
slow actually. My question is what is the average sized bar for most
people flying a 12 to 14 meter kite? ( I'm an intermediate 55kg going
upwind just started jumping.) Thanks.

The bars usually used with 12-14 m2 kites are between 55 and 65 cm. This depends on personal preference and the how fast the kite is. But a 50 m2 bar can work ok too on 12m2. I use my 14m2 kite with 55 or 60 cm bars.

There was a movement towards shorter bars - these slow the kite down and make it easier to do low wakestyle tricks. I went shorter for a while down to 50cm but then decided to go longer. I now ride 57cm bars on my bigger >12m kites. Extra bar length does make the kite turn quicker and makes the kite a bit twitchier but really helps with kite loops and wave riding.

Many Niash kites use a 55cm bar (measured line to line) including the X2/X3 12m, 14m and 16m.

I fly all my kites, 8-14-20, with a 55cm bar and 27m lines.

I really enjoy my BT12 with its 51 bar, so I think i can use smaller in more radical sessions.
I don't think longer bar will improve kyte manouvrability. Cabrinhas are very responsive kites so, smaller is better. Although I use 58 for 17 and 20.

Bar lengh depends on personal preference, kite size and type, and how powered you ride that kite. 45-55 could be a good combo for any kite size.
Longer than that, only for big sizes on light winds and or older kites.

Thanks for the responses, I am interested to try a 65cm bar with this kite
to see the difference in turning (2002 BT).
