I dropped one once when my wrist strap slipped off on the surface while I was free diving a wreck in 130 ft. of water. Viz. was less than 35 ft. so I didn't even try to find it. That was my fault in short.
I always leash my cameras whether I'm on or under the water, on the mountain or hang gliding. Always have with small gear at risk going back years, things will fall off at times. Have hundreds of gigabytes of great imagery as a result. Which of the dozens of mounts have you had problems with and do you leash your camera?

The leash has saved me countless times as well.
I've broken at least 3 of the short black mounts when clicked into a surf board mount (twice) or snowboard (once). If you are cruising, it's fine. Any kind of extended vibration or hard landings and they snap. Pretty sure I've broken more than three, though. I feel like they need a hard rubber relieve link in there somewhere. Just before the plastic would have broken, the hard rubber piece would bend and save your mount.

There are some major forces at work on boards both in water and on snow. I rarely mount cameras on either surface but have done so in the past with success, using a leash again. There are some heavy duty after-market board mounts that screw into place with a beefed up camera enclosure that may manage the forces more effectively. I once put a mount on a snowboard too soon before going out and the adhesive failed. It happened right away and so nothing was lost. It is best to let the mount stay in place at room temperature for about 24 hours before taking it into cold conditions.

They took the problems of the three and addressed what was wrong and came up with the 3+. Exactly what they should do. When I bought my skis, snowmobile, kites, car, anything really I always wish I had waited one more year cause it keeps getting better.

From a design standpoint, that's great! I agree.
There were so many problems with the 3,though, that they should offer a upgrade/trade-in plan for 3 owners.

Gopro kinda reminds me of Apple the way they bring out new models .I have a 3 Silver and never had any real issues with it but one thing that a lot of new users will find out is how inadequate their home pc's/laptops are when it comes to rendering, editing ect .
Buy the fastest sd card you can afford .

Still no wind here for kiting shots but perhaps there may be some useable breeze tomorrow. Sorry, but in the interim, all I have is another UW video clip. This time with artificial light.
