Best beginner hydrofoil board ?

Postby BigTomi » Sat Oct 12, 2013 5:07 pm

Hi guys, I need advice.

I am looking to get my self hydrofoil board, I do ride TT and surfboard as intermediate rider, now looking for some fun on a low wind days.

My facts: weight 100kg  kites 9,13,16met. average low wind days 9-13kts

What foil do you recommend?
I was looking at Ketos, Lift and Moses.
I do need slow foil for beginning but with possibility to exchange to racing wing with progression.

Thanks for your opinions.

Tomi :)

Looks like a good foilboard on Ikitesurf classifieds

I own three brands of hydrofoils, Rush Randle, MHL Lift, and Carafino.
Carafino is the easiest to learn. I am making higher speed wings out of wood and Titanium with good results

I would prefer new board, but not many reviews on a net and not many second hand boards for sale as well.
Producers of foils have weary limited informations on there web pages looks like they do not care to much about sale :-?

The "classic" Carafino is maybe the best beginner/intermediate hydrofoilboard of all :D

But not possible to change to more performant ones (yet - think it is about to come)

So can only recommend this one.

And agree with you Bille - foils, and especially that one, looks beautiful :thumb:

Carafino is great, Moses looks quite similar but you can change wing and it cost less.

Regarding add no reply yet :(

Does any one have experience with Moses hydrofoils ?

I do ...

Moses shot me down for a sponsorship to the Only guy in the world that kite boards on
double prosthetic ;
BUT
Carafino offered me a FREE one, and i Fucked it up by being an Arrogant Bastard !! :(

I AM however, smart enough to gather the info, and build my Own design ; it
will NOT be a copy of an existing design !!!

I've got a new 2014 Carifino in production--one of 90 if I remember correctly. The carifino website was just updated with 2014 info. It appears this may be a new design with changeable parts. I've not asked that specific question. Mr Carifino is a very friendly man and was posting on this forum for a short time. he was run off by the grammar police so I don't expect him to come back and share his knowledge with us again.
