Nice to see only 10 empty squares a month
...
No way, I don't want anything my wife can point at and go,
"LOOK HOW MANY DAYS YOU'VE KITED THIS MONTH!"

I hear you  ...maybe a way around this is....... to get your wife on calendar square with you
Easy for You to say ; your AWESOME wife kites as much , and BETTER than you !!

I have been keeping a log for that last 2 years. Excel spread sheet, with date, wind direction, wave height, spots, kite used, board used plus more stuff...

I find it really interesting to see the trends and I find I learn a lot. Example: Ive used my 5M and 8M 5% in 2013, 10M 55%, 14M 25%, 17M 10%. This might shape my next quiver .

I also put in the cost of my current equipment (new stuff less stuff sold) divided by the number of sessions to get an idea of the cost per session. Its not perfect, but gives me some sort of metric for the capital cost of the sport per session.

Sort of stupid, but I find it fun.

Hello Bille :D

14Toeside just called me and had a session on his 19 Edge....
..... and his sweet potato Quad 6'4"x23''x3" in the surf with 10 mph

He asked me to put him on my calendar...and i just did....his 245 pies as he likes to say.... had fun

I did leave some room on the square in case i get to go out...i hope my better half also will join in

You see 14Toe has a friendly competition with NJOY :winner1:

So far this month with today's sesh he is at 3 and she is at 2......................i got 7

But the day ain't over yet for us......14Toe went out early because of dinner engagement

I would think so..
....i am not retired..work part-time..off by 3pm...able to catch all late afternoon sessions

Not a windy place by all means but you can ride in all the wind directions possible if desired

Barrier island with intra-coastal rivers..we are the last ones at beach to feel effect of thunderstorms

Big kites 17 and up are a must if you are addicted otherwise you will ride only half the time

We are about the same age....glad you are thinking of retiring

We have nice waves here...not big...but quality and consistent in the range of 2-4 ft

It is mostly a surfing town....no big crowds of kitesurfers in the ocean....less than a dozen of us
Many more go kiteboarding in the nearby river because they haven't learned surfboard yet

Here's an inexpensive alternative if you have a smart phone. I have an Android phone put inside a US$7 waterproof bag running Google "My Tracks". It actually works. :P

Thanks. Still at least five years off, starting to consider a location that might be acceptable to my wife and allow for more days on the water.
