Firewire Surfboards 2014 Line up

Postby rebeliousone » Tue Oct 08, 2013 7:09 pm

This is the 2014 line up from Firewire Surfboards

Some of the big changes for the upcoming season is the introduction of Timbertek, a revolutionary new technology that is green for the environment and ads unparalleled strength to the boards. Multiple boards are offered with or without inserts.

Firewire is discontinuing the custom board program for kite boards due to the long lead time to get the product under the kiter's feet. Firewire has selected a quiver and widened the options in sizing to accommodate nearly every riders needs.

Also, the Vanguard will be available soon, the space age shape from Tomo that not only surfs well, but is opening up doors in the kitesurf world. Enjoy.

That stinks! I'm really liking my custom Chubby Chedda in kite construction. Being a surfer and kiter I loved the ability to get any Firewire surfboard in kite construction.

I was more than happy to wait to get my board.

looks good, but what I am missing here are the board weights. That is really important information to me and other strapless riders as the lighter the board the easier it is to do the grabless rotations etc. especially in lower winds.

For example Herve Beure shows all the weights and this should be industry standard:
http://hb-surfkite.fr/boards.php?page=boards

I have seen the arguments that for example there is 5% variation on board weights because of the lamination etc. process and therefore they can't publish the weights, but 5% is nothing, what matters is if the board weighs 2.8kg or 4kgs.

If I am spending lots of money to the board, and not being able to ride it, at least the manufacturer is obliged to give all the details of the board to help the consumer to make up his mind.

omg,

You are right...and that is something we can bring up on the website...we already published the PDF...but good call. Thanks for the tip.

tswierkocki-I know I know...BUT, we have a huge line up of boards and broadened the sizing....there should be that next board in line for you.

So when should we expect availability of the Vanguard?

Vanguard and the rest of the 2014 line will be available end of this year early 2014 around Jan most likely...and the Vanguard is only in FST. Timbertek is still in the building stage not only for the surf side of things, but primarily the Vanguard due to the shape and bottom deck channels.
