Please need some advice on my flysurfer unity 10m

Postby robbygk » Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:46 pm

So it's happened a couple of times now that resulted in a self rescue in some big seas today.

The kite suffers from tip tuck until full inflated, then when flying with for no reason front stalls, inverts and bow tie into the sea making it unflyable.

Has anyone else suffered from this?????????

My Unity 10 also tip tucks when launching especially if I do not pre -inflate it very much. The answer to reduce this is take a little time to pre-inflate the kite as much as possible then when launching the kite pull the bar in to hold the wing tips out. For the front stalls do a mixer test and set the kite up as shown in the manual and that should cure the problem. Also have a look on www.foilzone.com as there is a wealth of information there.

That's just normal.

Front stalls, huh... your kite is either over-flying and stalling, or the shape of the profile is off, so that when it flies forward, the A lines are "too short" and cause a tuck, stall and invert.

Check your bar is tuned eg. front/rear the same length.

Then you need to tune your mixer. There are threads on foilzone.com on how to do it. Start at all zero then fly it and go from there...

Cheers for the reply.

I've be flying flysurfer for about 10 years now and never had a issue like this.
The kite flys fine then for no reason at all the kite seems snap forward, the wingtips flare out and the kite then inverts on itself.

The kite is unflyable with the mixer set at level, so at the mo it's about -2cm on b and -4cm on c
But when measuring the main a-z lines they all seem shorter that spec'd on the line plan from the website.

I'm in a position that I cant sell this is kite as it's not flying right and I couldn't live with myself trying to palm this off on to someone so I have to get it sorted.

The kite has been back to flysurfer before for a repair and came back flying perfectly but it's now getting worse and worse.

If the guys at flysurfer read this, please help with some advice :-(

Check your pulley, it might be the problem since you said it can fly fine for a moment and suddenly stall and invert. You may have one jamming. I have seen the same problem happen on a Speed3 and it was a pulley.

Hi. 1. Check the line lenghts. 2. Check the mixer. 3. Check the pulleys.
In case the kite stalls again, replace the spare part lines, check the bridles do the mixer again.
Good luck.
Cheers

Oh yeah, things get bad when they're shrunk too much...
