yah the video is a bit hard to follow and the way he manages the lines and the bar is overkill
from the point you have your lines wrapped and larks headed to each other
the easiest way to learn this is to pump your kite and flip it over
go downwind of the kite and unwrap enough line so you can place the bar on the ground and connect all the lines.
disconnect all the lines laying them onto the ground into the correct order
connect all the lines in the order they are laid out.
go kite.
no need to hold the bar and the lines while connecting them. Holding all this can lead to mistakes like turning around or twisting the last two lines by mistake.
if you are not sure it will work... run your bar out downwind of the kite and check them... eventually you will have the confidence and the system that works for you. I actually drift launch using this method and as of yet have had no issues
