"Nope the video is a little more complex than that actually. I will try the above. Be nice to just wack on your lines, unwind, hook in and launch. Sweet."

I don't use method in video but simple one I just described I often get line inversions but I just flip the bar inside the lines to fix it when that happens

Well that seems the simplest idea really. No larks head combinations to work through...lol

Will try though the simple lark head combo, that vid does my head in.

yah the video is a bit hard to follow and the way he manages the lines and the bar is overkill
from the point you have your lines wrapped and larks headed to each other
the easiest way to learn this is to pump your kite and flip it over
go downwind of the kite and unwrap enough line so you can place the bar on the ground and connect all the lines.
disconnect all the lines laying them onto the ground into the correct order
connect all the lines in the order they are laid out.
go kite.

no need to hold the bar and the lines while connecting them. Holding all this can lead to mistakes like turning around or twisting the last two lines by mistake.

if you are not sure it will work... run your bar out downwind of the kite and check them... eventually you will have the confidence and the system that works for you. I actually drift launch using this method and as of yet have had no issues

This is similar to what I use; a very small and inexpensive carabiner that I loop through the bridle ends (in the proper order) when I'm unhooking from the kite. When setting up I can attach the carabiner to a tree or fence or whatnot to check for tangles (if I'm worried about that), then move over to the kite. Easy-peasy.

It seems to me that by constantly loosening the pigtails by wiggling and bending them back and forth to get them free and than putting them back on and sinching then tight would wear the loops out faster than just letting them be.

That system works fine for me. You spens some time after your sesh, but definetily save a lot while setting up the nex day.
Ah, never selflaunch with the lines attached that way.

Ten years of kiting, i'm always leaving lines attached, no problems, leav bar outside of the bag in side pocket. Two times faster setup.
