Freestyle kite with low bar pressure???

Postby JGTR » Mon Oct 28, 2013 10:53 pm

Hi

I have been flying Naish Torches for the last 5 years and am thinking of replacing them. As I have tennis elbow I'm looking for kites that have low bar pressure but don't feel vague or soft....is this achievable?????

Must be fast turning, low bar pressure, reasonable feedback through bar and not distort under load

Thinking 12m and below RPM or Switchblade but heard SB is quite slow????

Thanks :thumb:

Well the Vegas springs to mind when I read your criteria.

Bar pressure is reasonably heavy from a lot of feedback I read

If you're a committed wakestyle kite-low/pop kind of rider, you can change the settings on the Vegas to 'wakestyle' which gives you less range on your kite and slows down turning, but at the same time makes your bar pressure significantly lighter.

The other option, if bridles don't bother you (and if you're considering SB and RPM I'm assuming they don't) is the Dice. I've only ridden it on the 'higher bar pressure' setting and it's probably the lightest bar pressure in our lineup.

I can't speak to any other brands kites, but whatever you decide to go with, I'd recommend you demo before you buy.

2012 swotchblade had a lot of bar pressure. Maybe considered medium bar pressure by most people. The 2013 s definitely had ligter bar pressure. Definitely faster turning than the 2012. I didnt think there was a hige amount of change in the bar pressure. It was noticable and wasnt something id want to fly all day long. I fly obsessions and love the light bar pressure. My elbows dont hurt nor doy arms get tired after very long sessions. Quick turning kite for sure. Check out any kite demo you can to be sure.

Vegas high bar pressure...not the 2014 I tried?

I did want to mention the dice (which i ride now) but I stayed with the a more C kite like the vegas becuase you mentioned the torch (which is bloody nice I must say).

Yes the dice bar pressure is light to meduim, just right. You get less slack though than the vegas, but enough for what I do. Depends on how hard you ride and how much C you want!

SB is not a freestyle kite, too slow even the 2013 and the bar pressure is medium-high. I would recommend the Bandit6/7 or Core GTS2. Both are fast turning kite and light bar pressure. I hate bar pressure and no problem with theses two.

I second Seb with the F-One Bandit 6/7 : light bar pressure, fast and responsive. I ride the 9m and 12m on fast/low bar pressure setup. I prefer to ride the 7m on the slow setup. Very easy to ride with one hand.

Probably one of the most versatile kite on the market with good flying caracteristics in most of the disciplines.

I used to ride Torch as well...
You sould try the slingshot Fuel, I just got a 2013, and it works realy good!
I think just the bar pressure the Torch is lighter, however I prefer a good bar pressure to works in freestyle..
If you can try it, go ahead and get your conclusions
